How to travel cheaply in Bansko ski resorts:

  1. Keep your eyes peeled for inclusive ski trip package deals
  2. Consider who you are traveling with (family compared to solo/friends)
  3. Take advantage of the local attractions which are often free
  4. Stay at price-friendly accommodation in a cheaper ski area
  5. Consider visiting during the ‘shoulder’ ski season

1. Keep your eyes peeled for inclusive ski trip package deals

When I talk about inclusive ski trip package deals, I’m talking specifically about deals that include the flight, accommodation, ski lift passes and potential transfers to and from your housing.

The amazing thing about ski holiday package holidays is the fact that because you are buying all the factors of your holiday from one provider, the price is greatly reduced. Not to mention the stress of booking multiple parts of a holiday is no more.

The discounts you encounter through purchasing a package holiday will allow you to either save the money or spend it on core memories with your friends or family.

2. Consider who you are traveling with (family compared to solo/friends)

Solo traveling often comes with little to zero benefits when booking holidays, due to the fact that companies can’t make any extra money off the purchase. However, if you are looking to book with family or a group of friends, the deals then start popping up.

Companies will be more than happy to reduce prices on the third or fourth member of your party in order to secure four people’s holiday fees.

3. Take advantage of the local attractions which are often free

Whilst staying at Bansko ski resort, you may feel the need to spend extra money on tourist activities. If you want to make the most of your holiday here on a cheap budget, why not think outside the box?

Located near the ski resorts, the Pirin National Park. A beautiful, alpine region brimmed with wildlife, stunning scenery and monstrous mountains! Although beware, wolves, bears and more still roam the park…

If you aren’t into hiking but instead enjoy history, Bansko has lots of historical buildings to visit and admire their traditional Bulgarian architecture. Free tours are run often throughout the main town, with locals just itching to share their endless knowledge of the area.

4. Stay at a price-friendly accommodation in a cheaper ski area

In general, compared to the likes of The Alps, Bansko ski resort is much more value for money here. Throw that in along with hand-selecting the cheapest housing options during your stay and you are onto a winner…

Although Bansko does have a wide selection of luxury hotels, we personally recommend staying in a budget-friendly guesthouse or hostel. A key tip here is to avoid booking in the main town, as staying there pretty much equals a price rise. Why not looks slightly outwards instead?

At the end of the day, your main aim here is to avoid as many costs as possible, even if it’s at the expense of your luxury. Of course, be sure to enjoy yourself.

After all, Bansko is known for its cheap, delicious local beer…

5. Consider visiting during the 'shoulder' ski season

Bansko ski during shoulder season

The shoulder season in skiing terms is in-between and during the months of December to March. This period is either just before, or just after the prime ski seasons for Bansko ski resort.

Yes, the weather may be slightly more unpredictable and less desirable for starters looking for a super relaxed environment to learn, but still better than most other ski towns in eastern or Western Europe.

This means that the prices you are going to be paying for your accommodation, flights and ski pass are going to be majorly reduced, whilst still enjoying decent weather conditions.

My concluding Points about the ski town of Bansko

Not only can you enjoy a great ski holiday here for a cheap price (if you follow our guide), but you can also experience delicious food & drink, incredible buildings and history, as well as vibrant wildlife/vegetation.

I would personally recommend Bansko ski center over most of the available resorts in Europe (apart from The Alps), as the locals out here are simply the friendliest in the world.

I mean who wouldn’t be if they lived in a place like this…

Although Bulgaria may not be on your current travel watchlist, you should definitely consider the country, it is a moshpit for amazing landscapes and culture.
