Firstly, let us explain what Apple Carplay actually is for those who are unaware!
Apple Carplay origin:
Never has wireless carplay ever been easier than with the recently developed Apple Carplay! It’s a much safer way to play music in your car than the traditional version of the aux cord that always disconnects from your apple iPhone and just causes absolute havoc…
After you connect your iPhone to cars apple carplay, you suddenly have access to all your music, satellite navigation system, phone call system, and more!
One thing to bare in mind here though is making sure your car supports wireless carplay as a lot of older-generation cars don’t.
You should also double-check that the country and region you are currently living in supports carplay apps as some undoubtedly don’t!
It then works on improving the quality of the image until there is little to no noise left and the result is left more accurate to the description of the presented text.
Anyways, let’s get straight into the apple carplay tutorial!
Let's install apple carplay
Firstly, it’s an obvious step but make sure your car is started and your electronic systems are working correctly.
Connect your iPhone to your car:
- Depending on your car, you can connect wirelessly through Bluetooth mode.
- If you prefer to connect via wire or have an older model, then you can do so via USB port & cable.
If your car only supports wireless Carplay, gently press down and hold the voice command button on your steering wheel. Be sure that your car has entered Bluetooth mode on the carplay dashboard!
On your iPhone, you then want to go to settings, then to Wi-Fi, and make sure it is turned on. You should see an option for carplay network, tap that option.
Let Siri Take the steering wheel...
Connecting to apple carplay truly enhances Siri suggestions, apps, and capabilities…
If you have apple iOS 15 or later downloaded on your iPhone, Siri can use carplay to notify you as soon as you receive any notifications or messages. Using the carplay icon on your steering wheel, hold the voice command button to access Siri. Then ask it any question your heart desires (within reason).
You may have to experiment, but if your car supports the ‘hey Siri‘ feature, then you can simply ask without having to hold down on the car play button on your steering.
Customising your carplay dashboard
Believe it or not, it’s super easy to customise your cars carplay!
Whilst on, your dashboard will show a selection of apps auto-generated by your iPhone. However, if you decide you don’t have any use for some of the apps selected, you can easily change them by:
- Head over to your settings app and click general.
- Select ‘your car‘ and then customise.
- Tap either the plus button or the minus button depending on whether you are looking to add or subtract apps from your dashboard.
- This will allow you to move and shuffle around the apps to your liking!
